Kylie Commet, External President
Hello! My name is Kylie Commet and I am the External President for the 2015-2016 MSU Marketing Association. If you are interested in marketing, MSUMA has a lot to offer. Throughout the year, we have biweekly meetings with guest speakers from a wide range of incredible companies, various networking opportunities, many different social activities, and plenty of ways for you to meet new people and have a great time! If you have any questions regarding the association, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to answer them!
As for myself, I am a junior marketing major and this is my second year as a member of MSUMA. I am currently a marketing intern at AIS Construction in Lansing, and also interned with the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, as well as Commonwealth Associates, Inc. Outside of MSUMA, I am an Event Coordinator on the E-Board for an all girls health and fitness club called CHAARG. I was raised in a small farm town near Jackson, MI and absolutely love the outdoors, physical activities, and traveling!
Again, please feel free to contact me or any member of the E-Board if you have questions or concerns about the association. It's going to be a fantastic year for MSUMA and I am very excited to meet all of you amazing Spartans! Go Green!!
Sarah MacKenzie, Internal President
My name is Sarah MacKenzie and I will be handling all internal presidential roles for MSUMA during the 2015-2016 school year! I am very excited to hold this position, to learn new things and to meet new faces as the year progresses. MSUMA is a fantastic organization, and offers so many opportunities to learn and grow as a person. Whether you want to learn more about business, improve your resume, or meet new friends; this is the organization to join.
This will be my fourth year at Michigan State University, and my fourth year involved in the organization. I am a member of the Eli Broad College of Business and majoring in marketing. Last year, I was the director of marketing for MSUMA and I am excited to be on the EBoard again! Aside from business classes, I fill my schedule with communication arts classes, for I am interested in taking a creative approach in my marketing career. Two summers ago, I held a position as a marketing intern at the Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce. Last summer, I worked as a digital marketing director for Motor City Coffee, a start up coffee company. This past summer, I had the opportunity of interning with Whirlpool Corporation and participated in their Real Whirled internship program! During the school year, I also work as a CSE 101 teaching assistant.
In my free time, you will find me running, taking photos, or indulging in some type of outdoor activity. I was born and raised in Northern Michigan, and thus grew up snowboarding, swimming, biking, wakeboarding, etc. I also love concerts, traveling, and meeting new people. I'm looking forward to MSUMA this coming year, and cannot wait to meet the new members! GO GREEN!

As a member, you will enjoy many exclusive networking events with amazing companies, and awesome trips with our great members that will leave you with countless memories. As for a little more about me, I am going into my junior year here at MSU and I am a Marketing major with a minor in Sales Leadership. 2 summers ago I had a marketing internship with Thomson Reuters. This past summer, I had a marketing internship with General Motors for Chevrolet Trucks. Once again, MSUMA is a great organization to join and I look forward to meeting all the new members this year and to a great year!
Andrea Scherlinck, Treasurer
Hello! My name is Andrea Scherlinck, and I am a Senior Marketing major. I will be your Treasurer this year, so I will be taking care of MSUMA’s monetary needs. If you are interested in marketing and would like to prepare for the workplace, please come to our meetings! MSUMA is a great place to make friends and have a lot of fun.
Ever since my Freshman year, I have participated in new media research. This year I am starting the MSU Association of Consumer Insights and will be its President. This summer I am participating in the Business and Culture in Japan Study Abroad Program and interning at Discover Financial Services in the Marketing Internship Program. I love hockey, and during the 2013-14 school year I interned at MSU’s Munn Ice Arena assisting with the hockey operations. I also love helping people, and last summer I was a Foster Care Intern at Fostering Futures in Ann Arbor, which didn’t relate to marketing at all. However, it was a very good learning experience and a lot of fun.
In my free time I enjoy watching hockey, reading, and playing the flute. During my lifetime I plan to to visit every NHL arena (I’m a sixth of the way there!) and work in international business. I really like critiquing resumes, so please come to me if you want someone to look over yours. In addition, feel free to come to me if you have any other questions about marketing, MSU, hockey, or life in general. I look forward to meeting you this year! Go Green!

Shannon Martin, Director of Marketing
My name is Shannon Martin and I am Director of Marketing for MSUMA for the 2015-2016 school year! I am a junior majoring in Marketing and this will be my second year in the Marketing Association. I am currently interning at Mitchell Research, which is a communications and public relations firm in East Lansing.
Being the Director of Marketing means a lot to me, because I like to be able to help promote MSUMA to the public through any social media and our website. If anyone has any great pictures throughout the year or any ideas about how to improve our social media I would love for you to send your ideas and photos my way!
The Marketing Association is a great organization to meet new people, network, grow as a student, get help with your resume, and learn more about business. I am very excited to meet all the members and have a great school year! I encourage everyone to reach out to any Executive Board members if you have any questions at all.
Molly DeKraker, Director of Events
My name is Molly DeKraker and I will be your Director of Events. I will mostly be planning our social events, as well as our spring and fall trips! This will be my second year involved with the Marketing Association. Being a part of this organization has truly had a significant impact on my life, and I am excited to share our passion with all of you. We are a great resource to help you develop you professional skills and most importantly we have a lot of fun doing it.
I am a senior marketing major. This summer I traveled Europe and studied abroad with Professor Harrell. It was by far the most amazing experience of my life, and I absolutely recommend it to anyone that gets the opportunity. My favorite part was either biking in Switzerland or a soccer game in Paris. Once I came back from Europe, I interned with Paramount Coffee working in their marketing/sales department. I have worked in retail for about 5 years now. This school year I am also on E-Board for the MSU Association of Consumer Insights, which is focused on involving students with marketing research. It is our first year, and I will be the Director of Marketing. There’s not a lot I don’t like but I love fashion, music, and movies (pretty much any genre). I would consider myself a foodie; my hobbies include cooking but its primarily just eating! (That’s considered a hobby right?)
Just come to a meeting, get FREE FOOD, and see what were all about. This is a great way to build you resume, make connections, and get to know other marketing majors. We’re all here to help if you have any questions; I hope to see you soon!
